J. Educ. Manage. Stud., 4(2): 210-214, 2014

ABSTRACT: This paper analyses how corruption, affect the formal economy and informal economy, using an Asian country data. The literature strongly emphasizes the quantifiable importance of these factors to understand the changes of informal economy. However, the limited number of researches uses cross-sectional country data with a relatively few number of observations, and hardly any paper has investigated corruption and provides evidence using within country data. We use 30 proxies that measure government indices and political behavior. Research result shows increase in governance indices leads to a smaller informal economy. Furthermore, an increase in government stability increases the size of the informal economy.

Original Research, D34

J. Educ. Manage. Stud., 4(2): 215-217, 2014

ABSTRACT: This research evaluated the relationship of return with Free Cash Flow (FCF) and earning before and after restatement of financial statements. Stock return was used as the study’s dependent variable while Free cash flow per share (FCFPS) and earning per share (EPS) were used as independent variables. A series of data collected from the financial statements of 150 companies listed in Tehran stock exchange between 2008 to 2012 was used as the study's data collection. According to the obtained results, before restated financial statements, there is a positive and a negative relationship between EPS and dependent variable and FCFPS and dependent variable, respectively. The negative relationship, however, is not significant. Following restatement of financial statements, FCFPS and EPS have respectively a negative and a positive impact on companies’ return but again the impact is not significant. The overall results indicated that before restatement, investors found their decisions on EPS. After restatement, the explanatory power of information is decreased which in turn results in the decrease of the financial statements’ reliability.

Ebrahemi Ghavam S., Delavar A., Eshaghnia M.

J. Educ. Manage. Stud., 4(2): 228-231, 2014

ABSTRACT: This study investigates the relationship between self-efficacy and psychological well-being components. It also examines which one of these components can predict self-efficacy. Study sample consisted of 392 Young Researchers Club members. They were selected by random clustering technique. Then, they were asked to fill out Sherer General Self-Efficacy Scale (SGSES) and Ryff Psychological Well-being Scale. Results indicated that psychological well-being components explain %42 of self-efficacy variance. Regression coefficients calculation showed that, among the components, life satisfaction (p=0.81, 0.02) and spirituality (p=0.78, 0.01) have no significant effect on self-efficacy. Yet, other components including happiness (p=0.00, 0.20), personal growth and development (p=0.05, 0.22), autonomy (p=0.00, 0.32), and effective communication (p=0.00, 0.39) have significant effect on self-efficacy.

Expectation Gap Between CPAs and Analysts: Auditing in Iran

Original Research, D42

Abdoli MR., vahedi H., Valian H.and Eskandari M.

J. Educ. Manage. Stud., 4(2): 250-254, 2014

ABSTRACT: In this study, the differences of opinions between CPAs working in audit firms who are the members of Iranian Association of Certified Public Accountants (IACPA) and analysts working in holding investment companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange are investigated. For this purpose, the chi-square (X2) statistical test is used and the opinions and perspectives of 259 auditors from various professional levels and 259 analysts of holding investment companies are collected and analyzed. The results indicated a significant difference between the opinions of these two categories on CPAs selection method and their independence and impartiality, and therefore the difference of their opinions on clients’ performance impact and the role of regulations and standards on auditors’ independence were not confirmed. Auditors consider that the role of time budget pressure and their tax report effects are important which may circumscribe their independence, while for financial analysts, the role of professional rules and standards as well as auditors selection method are important and are significantly effective on auditors’ opinion.

Original Research, D43

Mohammadinejad E. and Nemati, M.

J. Educ. Manage. Stud., 4(2): 255-260, 2014

ABSTRACT: Debate about the value of providing corrective feedback on L2 Writing has been outstanding in recent years as Truscott, denied the effect of written corrective feedback and mentioned that feedback cannot be helpful, some others favor a role for written teacher feedback, the result of this study firstly showed that generally feedback is a helpful strategy in nature. The current study aimed at finding the effect of two different types of feedback (evaluative and formative) on students writing performance. This study has been conducted with 60 pre-intermediate English students who were selected by a placement test (first writing draft). The participants were divided into three groups of 20 students. Group one received direct (Evaluative) written corrective feedback; group two on the other hand received indirect (formative) type of feedback; group three received no feedback. Each participant completed four 120 word writing tasks during the 10 week period. Results showed that regardless of the type of linguistic error, groups that received formative and evaluative feedback were more successful than group that received no feedback, However the result of the present study confirmed that both evaluative and formative feedback were effective but the result also revealed that evaluative feedback follows more regular pattern of improvement and conclude that although formative feedback, based on its nature, raise the level of awareness among student writers, it may also cause confusion, on the other hand Iranian low proficiency student writers prefer the clarity of evaluative feedback which directly addresses their errors.

With the instructional emphasis on input processing, LC anxiety merits closer examination. This study investigated the correlation between Anxiety and listening comprehension skill among Iranian EFL learners. At first, a modified version of Comprehensive English Language Test was administered to a group of 82 students to determine their homogeneity as well as to assess their language proficiency. In the next phase of the study Foreign Language listening Anxiety Scale (FLLAS) was modified. In the last phase of the study, the students were given a listening comprehension test consisting of two lectures to measure the listening comprehension of students. This test was designed to examine the relationship between foreign language listening anxiety and listening comprehension. A sample of 155(73 men) was chosen by simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed by t-Test and correlation. The OAS's social and interpersonal relations items were analyzed. All items of the scale were significantly correlated with the scale's total sum( P < 0.001 ) The gender differences were significant, only in positive sub-scale's items( P < 0.05 ) but, no significant difference was found between men and women in negative sub-scale's items. Pleasant odor would increase interpersonal attraction and unpleasant odor would decrease it. Interestingly, attraction reduction due to unpleasant odors are more than attraction increases while pleasant odors are present. Pleasant odors have more influence on women, but the effects of unpleasant odors, are the same for both sexes.

J. Educ. Manage. Stud., 4(2): 316-320, 2014

ABSTRACT: Economic institutions mostly hold their assets in the cash accounts. The present study mainly aims to assess the asymmetrical relationship between cash flow sensitivity of cash (changes at the level of cash holdings in proportion to changes in cash flows) and operating cash flow sign. Furthermore, the effect of fiscal restraints is appraised in this research. Multiple linear regression models were applied to analyze 148 companies over the 2007- 2012 period. The obtained findings indicated an asymmetrical relationship between cash flow sensitivity of cash and positive or negative cash flows. Simply put, there is a significant difference between cash flow sensitivity of cash and positive or negative cash flow. The results also showed that fiscal restraints are not significantly influential in cash flow sensitivity of cash.
